Prepay specific FAQs
How much are we charged from our Prepay account when we view the full record?
The accounts of prepay customers are debited whenever records in FSTA Direct are viewed in bibliographic or full views. In 2009 the charges are 1.10 units for bibliographic views and 1.50 units for full views. The transition from bibliographic to full view for a record is charged at 0.40 units.
How do I change the view of a record or records in my Prepay search results?
There are a number of ways to change the amount of information in the record display.
- On the Search results page, all the records on display can be changed by clicking on Change View in the light blue menu bar and selecting the desired format; prepay users will be charged for all records visible on the current screen.
- Individual records can have their display format changed by clicking on the change icon at the right hand end of the record title bar and by selecting the desired format; the single record is displayed in a new window or tab and prepay users are charged for just the cost of this record.
- If you wish to change permanently the default view style for records, go to Set preferences and select the format under 'Default view for results' and then click 'Apply' for the change to be used for the current session only and click 'Remember' to apply the change to future sessions as well. Prepay users are warned that they are charged for all records they view under these formats.
How do I top up my Prepay credit?
Access to online top-up with a credit card is available via the old FSTA Direct interface. The procedure to follow, starting on the home page of the new FSTA Direct interface is:
- Log in to FSTA Direct with your Local Administrator username and password
- Navigate to the Admin pages by clicking on the Admin link in the dark blue navigation bar in FSTA Direct
- Click on 'My account' in the light-blue menu bar and select 'My organisation'
- Click on the 'Get more units' link on the right-hand side of the screen
- Please complete the email with details of your needs and your contact information; IFIS will respond directly to resolve this with you.
How do I assign individual users with their own units?
The default mode of operating a prepay account is to have units credited to an organizations account and to allow all users on that account access to the central resource. If it suits your local circumstances it is possible to change the account's settings such that individual users have access only to the credit that is assigned to them.
- Log in to FSTA Direct with your Local Administrator username and password
- Navigate to the Admin pages by clicking on the Admin link in the dark blue navigation bar
- Click on 'My account' in the light-blue menu bar and select 'My organisation'
- Locate the 'Users can use organization units' checkbox and uncheck the tick-box and click on 'Apply'
- Click on the 'User llist' link
- Click on the username you wish to assign units to
- Click on the 'Assign units' heading
- Assign units to the account
- Click 'Apply'
If in step 4 the setting is left checked, individual users see the sum of organization and their own units in the FSTA search status panel.
