Getting started - the Home page

The Home page for FSTA Direct is the starting page for using FSTA Direct. There are help files and documents, news and feature announcements, and the log in panel for access to the search facilities.

FSTA Direct user log in
Logging in to FSTA Direct gives the user access to personalized search facilities. To log in, enter your user name and password in the panel at the right of the screen and click the button labeled 'Log in'. You will be taken through to the Easy search screen by default - your choice of search can be changed in Search preferences.

If you return to the home page there is no need to log in again to resume searching. You can return to the search screens by clicking on the 'Search FSTA Direct' button.



Click on the password reminder link if you have forgotten your password.

Authorized IP address access
Accounts with authorized IP address range access provide access to FSTA Direct without logging in - just click on the 'Search new FSTA Direct' button. Basic searching can be done, but you need to log in with your personal FSTA Direct user name and password (see above) to take advantage of saved searches, setting email alerts and RSS feeds of results, etc.

If you are logged out of FSTA Direct a new authorized IP address session can be started by clicking on Start new session in the FSTA search status panel (highlighted in green, below).

Athens log in
If you wish your users to access FSTA Direct using Athens authentication please contact IFIS to have this facility enabled. You will need to provide us with your Athens Organisation Name and your Athens ID.

For access via Athens authentication please click on the Athens log in link in the FSTA search status panel (highlighted in red, below).



This link takes you to an Athens Authentication Point, and after authentication you are returned to the FSTA Direct home page as an authorized user. Click on the Search FSTA Direct button to begin searching.

To access personalized facilities such as saved searches, email alerts, and RSS feeds of search results you will need to log in with an FSTA Direct user name and password (see above).

Log out
When you have finished searching FSTA Direct please log out using the provided link in the FSTA search status panel.



This is especially important to free up access to FSTA Direct for other users of your account when the number of simultaneous users is limited.
