Exporting records

FSTA Direct supports exporting records in a variety of views and formats. Records can be saved to a local disk drive or they can be sent to your or a contact's email address.

Exporting records is available from the Search results page. Move the mouse pointer to the word Export in the light-blue menu bar and click on one of the presented options:

  • Export all - exports all the records from the current search
  • Export selected - exports all the currently selected records
  • Export page - exports all the records on the current page

Please note that the maximum number of records that can be exported at any one time is 200.

A window appears offering formatting and distribution options

Available formats are plain, HTML, XML, and the .ris format used by EndNote, Reference Manager, and Procite bibliographic management software packages. Other bibliographic management software packages may be compatible with this format as well. Click on Save to save records to a local disk drive in the current view format.

The schema for XML files exported using the XML option is available at here. It is our intention that the old, undocumented XML file format (now labelled ‘XML (as attributes)’) will be removed in the first half of 2009, and we recommend existing users migrate to the new format as soon as they are able to.

Search results may be emailed by checking the 'Send to email' box. By default the user account email will be offered, but this can be edited to any other valid email address. Click on Send to send the email using the current view format.

Please refer to your user agreement for terms and conditions regarding the storage of saved records.
